Slowphotography Strasbourg 2016 - A la découverte du Collodion humide (The revival of Wet-plate Coll
J'arrive à peine à le réaliser, mais c'est vraiment au point de se passer: mon premier projet au Collodion humide à l'extérieure va bientôt démarrer! Ça fait seulement quelques jours que les dernières préparations sur mon labo mobile ont été finies, qui est maintenant définitivement étanche à la lumière et prêt à être utilisé, le bain de nitrate d'argent est filtré, les produits chimiques sont mixés et le Collodion décanté. A part les conditions météorologiques un peu embêtantes, je vois plus vraiment qu'est-ce qui pourrait causer problème!
Je sais que travailler à l'extérieure est très différent de tout ce que j'ai fait jusqu'à présent, il faut savoir s'adapter à différentes températures et luminosités, mais c'est seulement l'exercice qui peut réellement révéler les difficultés pratiques. A l'instant, je suis tout simplement super-excité de voir comment on va s'en sortir (oui ON, j'ai maintenant un assistant comme un pro), et surtout comment les gens vont réagir.

Et finalement cela veut aussi dire que tout ceux qui s'intéressent à ce que je fais ont pour la première fois l'occasion de voir en réel comment je travaille et bien sûr aussi de rencontrer la personne derrière Silver-Iris pour ceux qui ne me connaissent pas encore. Ce sera une honneur et un plaisir pour moi, donc j'espère de vous voir très prochainement à Strasbourg!
I can barely believe it but it's about to happen: my first outdoor Collodion project is about to happen! It's only a few days now that I've finished the very last small details on my darkbox which is now officially light-tight, sealed and ready to use, the chemicals are mixed, the Silverbath is sunned and the Collodion cleared out nicely. Except for the weird weather-conditions this spring, there isn't really much that could go wrong, or at least I hope so! I know that working outside is completely different because you have to adapt for example to different temperatures and lighting conditions, but only practice can show what might cause problems. For now, I'm just super-excited to see how we get on (yes WE, I've got myself an assistant like a pro), and especially how people react. I have written a dedicated article whose link I will post down-below where I explain everything from "What's the idea behind it?" to "How can everybody participate?", so things are really getting serious now! And this means for you that if you are interested in what I am doing, it is the first opportunity for you to see my work live and in the flesh as well as to meet the person behind Silver-Iris for those who haven't met me yet. It will be an honor and a pleasure for me, so see you hopefully very soon in Strasbourg!
